Hosted by the kind folks at [Bronto](http://bronto.com/), it 12 focused on HTML5 client-side storage as well as alternatives to 13 traditional relational databases. Client-side storage has a lot of 14 interesting implications, both in terms of improving website performance 15 by caching user-specific information locally, as well as building 16 standalone offline applications that run in the browser. On the server 17 side, the ["NoSql" movement](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nosql) has 18 been gaining a lot of attention among the web development community, and 19 Ben stressed that all data storage systems have their roles, from simple 20 key-value stores to sophisticated graph databases. 21 22 Ben's given a similar talk at [several](http://www.rubynation.org/) 23 [technical](http://developer-day.com/events/2009-boston.html) 24 [conferences](http://windycityrails.org), and he did a great job 25 refitting the presentation to suit the Refresh crowd of designers, 26 developers, and "other." A lively discussion followed the talk and 27 continued at [Tyler's](http://www.tylerstaproom.com/restaurants/durham) 28 downstairs.
