Here’s how to turn it on. 55 56 Watch 57 The iPhone SE Offers Almost Everything You Want In An iPhone 58 CC 59 Share 60 Subtitles 61 62 • Off 63 • English 64 65 Share this Video 66 [39]Facebook[40]Twitter[41]Email 67 [42]Reddit[43]Link 68 [44]view video 69 [45]The iPhone SE Offers Almost Everything You Want In An iPhone 70 [46] 71 Is USB-C Finally Coming To iPhone? 72 May 18, 2022 73 [47] 74 Is This the End of Apple’s Lightning Cable? 75 June 24, 2022 76 77 First, you want to make sure to update the [48]iPhone to the latest 17.3 78 version. Then go to Settings, scroll down to Face ID & Passcode, look for 79 Stolen Device Protection, and turn the toggle switch on. It’ll take a few 80 seconds. 81 82 Advertisement 83 84 The feature aims to apply a couple of layers of security so that someone who 85 gets access to your passcode can’t get a hold of your entire digital life. 86 That’s a pretty dangerous thought considering a thief could easily glance at 87 your screen while you’re unlocking your device, and then strategically plan the 88 theft. 89 90 Advertisement 91 92 The passcode vulnerability is a big one because having that can let someone 93 else change your Apple ID password, and Apple ID is crucial for accessing the 94 Find My app when your iPhone goes missing. 95 96 Advertisement 97 98 One of the ways in which the Stolen Device Protection feature helps is by 99 making you enter your biometrics (Face or Touch ID) when you’re trying to 100 change your Apple ID password at a place that your device doesn’t recognize as 101 either your home or workplace. It does this once and then it makes you re-enter 102 your biometrics one hour later for that extra layer of security and confirm 103 that it’s really you. 104 105 You’d also need to enter your biometrics twice with a one-hour delay to change 106 your recovery key and iCloud keychain, which is the place where all your 107 passwords are saved. Also, of course, you need to use your biometrics to turn 108 the Stolen Device Protection feature off too, or the feature would be 109 practically useless. 110 111 Show all 8 comments 112 113 References: 114 115 [1] https://avclub.com/ 116 [2] https://deadspin.com/ 117 [3] https://gizmodo.com/ 118 [4] https://jalopnik.com/ 119 [5] https://kotaku.com/ 120 [6] https://qz.com/ 121 [7] https://theroot.com/ 122 [8] https://thetakeout.com/ 123 [9] https://theonion.com/ 124 [10] https://theinventory.com/ 125 [11] https://gizmodo.com/how-to-tip-gizmodo-1843880833 126 [12] https://store.gizmodo.com/ 127 [13] https://gizmodo.com/newsletter 128 [14] https://gizmodo.com/ 129 [15] https://gizmodo.com/ 130 [16] https://gizmodo.com/search 131 [17] https://gizmodo.com/ 132 [18] https://gizmodo.com/ 133 [19] https://gizmodo.com/latest 134 [20] https://gizmodo.com/tech 135 [21] https://gizmodo.com/reviews 136 [22] https://gizmodo.com/science 137 [23] https://gizmodo.com/earther 138 [24] https://gizmodo.com/io9 139 [25] https://gizmodo.com/tech/artificial-intelligence 140 [26] https://gizmodo.com/science/spaceflight 141 [27] https://es.gizmodo.com/ 142 [28] https://gizmodo.com/top-video 143 [29] https://gizmodo.com/reviews/smartphones 144 [30] https://gizmodo.com/author/drashid 145 [31] https://gizmodo.com/stop-everything-enable-stolen-device-protection-iphone-1851188262#replies 146 [32] https://twitter.com/intent/tweet?via=gizmodo&url=https%3A%2F%2Fgizmodo.com%2Fstop-everything-enable-stolen-device-protection-iphone-1851188262%3Futm_medium%3Dsharefromsite%26utm_source%3Dgizmodo_twitter&text=Stop%20Everything%20You%26%2339%3Bre%20Doing%20and%20Enable%20Stolen%20Device%20Protection%20on%20Your%20iPhone 147 [33] https://facebook.com/sharer.php?u=https%3A%2F%2Fgizmodo.com%2Fstop-everything-enable-stolen-device-protection-iphone-1851188262%3Futm_medium%3Dsharefromsite%26utm_source%3Dgizmodo_facebook 148 [34] https://www.reddit.com/submit?url=https%3A%2F%2Fgizmodo.com%2Fstop-everything-enable-stolen-device-protection-iphone-1851188262%3Futm_medium%3Dsharefromsite%26utm_source%3Dgizmodo_reddit&title=Stop%20Everything%20You%26%2339%3Bre%20Doing%20and%20Enable%20Stolen%20Device%20Protection%20on%20Your%20iPhone 149 [35] mailto:?subject=Stop%20Everything%20You%26%2339%3Bre%20Doing%20and%20Enable%20Stolen%20Device%20Protection%20on%20Your%20iPhone&body=https%3A%2F%2Fgizmodo.com%2Fstop-everything-enable-stolen-device-protection-iphone-1851188262%3Futm_medium%3Dsharefromsite%26utm_source%3Dgizmodo_email 150 [36] https://gizmodo.com/stop-everything-enable-stolen-device-protection-iphone-1851188262 151 [37] https://gizmodo.com/apple-iphone-theft-protection-ios-17-3-1851095703 152 [39] https://facebook.com/sharer.php?u=https%3A%2F%2Fgizmodo.com%2Fiphone-se-review-1848690777%3Futm_medium%3Dsharefromsite%26utm_source%3Dfacebook 153 [40] https://twitter.com/intent/tweet?url=https%3A%2F%2Fgizmodo.com%2Fiphone-se-review-1848690777%3Futm_medium%3Dsharefromsite%26utm_source%3Dtwitter&text=The%20iPhone%20SE%20Offers%20Almost%20Everything%20You%20Want%20In%20An%20iPhone 154 [41] mailto:?subject=The%20iPhone%20SE%20Offers%20Almost%20Everything%20You%20Want%20In%20An%20iPhone&body=https%3A%2F%2Fgizmodo.com%2Fiphone-se-review-1848690777%3Futm_medium%3Dsharefromsite%26utm_source%3Demail 155 [42] https://www.reddit.com/submit?url=https%3A%2F%2Fgizmodo.com%2Fiphone-se-review-1848690777%3Futm_medium%3Dsharefromsite%26utm_source%3Dreddit&title=The%20iPhone%20SE%20Offers%20Almost%20Everything%20You%20Want%20In%20An%20iPhone 156 [43] https://gizmodo.com/iphone-se-review-1848690777 157 [44] https://gizmodo.com/iphone-se-review-1848690777 158 [45] https://gizmodo.com/iphone-se-review-1848690777 159 [46] https://gizmodo.com/the-gadgettes-talk-about-apple-rumor-that-might-finally-1848948230 160 [47] https://gizmodo.com/is-this-the-end-of-apple-s-lightning-cable-1849105142 161 [48] https://gizmodo.com/apple-iphone-15-review-is-worth-the-upgrade-1850887870
