It's been a 46 while since I updated the page, but [hfs98] 47 (believe it or not), there hasn't 48 been a whole lot of HFStival news [stars] 49 going around. Those pictures I took 50 and was going to put online, they THE BANDS 51 suck! Nothing you couldn't see 52 better at HFS.com anyway. The B-52s 53 The Mighty 54 And as a final testament to just how Mighty Bosstones 55 damn cool the HFStival was, the Green Day 56 Tibetan Freedom Concert, the only Everclear 57 other big music festival in the Scott Weiland 58 area, was CANCELED yesterday! Or Wyclef Jean 59 delayed anyway. It will commence Harvey Danger 60 today, but not without everybody Fuel 61 knowing which festival REALLY kicked Save Ferris 62 ass. Geez, I don't think anyone Semisonic 63 would have cared if someone got Fastball 64 struck by lightning during GREEN Marcy Playground 65 DAY's set, you? Barenaked Ladies 66 Tuscadero 67 [Tuesday, 5/19/98] There's a little Crystal Method 68 article on the festival over on Soul Coughing 69 Rolling Stone. You can check it out Foo Fighters 70 [13]here. [thanks Eric] Agents of Good 71 Roots 72 [Sunday, 5/17/98] Well folks, it's Cherry Poppin' 73 all over. The HFStival, which took Daddies 74 place yesterday, was AWESOME. Sure, God Lives 75 the temperatures were in the 90s Underwater 76 throughout the day, and nobody left 77 without a sunburn, but it was okay, 78 because we could quench our thirst 79 with $3 Cokes! Yeah, the prices were 80 a little rediculous, but the music 81 was great. 82 83 The best performer, in my opinion, 84 was Green Day. While they aren't my 85 favorite radio band, they really 86 know how to work the crowd. At one 87 point, they pulled a guy out of the 88 audience and let him play a song on 89 the guitar with the band. They also 90 burned a drum set, and sang some 91 Maryln Manson. I really enjoyed the 92 morning outer stage bands, like 93 Fuel, Harvey Danger, and Fastball. 94 Wyclef Jean (say "john", dammit!) 95 was great, and so was Everclear, who 96 had the entire place singing along 97 to a couple of their songs. Scott 98 Weiland was different, but in a good 99 way. Foo Fighters were great, and 100 then, right before Green Day came 101 on, they showed "The Spirit of 102 Christmas", the original South Park 103 cartoon, on those two huge 104 television screens. Now maybe next 105 year they can look into putting a 106 roof onto RFK? 107 108 I took some pictures, and I'll try 109 to have them online in the next 110 couple of days. 111 112 [14]Click here for Past News 113 114 [15][bottomtop][bottom] 115 116 117 118 References: 119 120 [1] https://members.tripod.com/hfs99 121 [2] https://hfs98.tripod.com/~hfs98/ 122 [3] https://hfs98.tripod.com/bands.html 123 [4] https://hfs98.tripod.com/news.html 124 [5] mailto:[email protected] 125 [6] http://www.whfs.com/ 126 [7] http://members.aol.com/gregw99058 127 [8] http://hfstival.home.ml.org/ 128 [11] mailto:[email protected] 129 [12] http://www.mtv.com/news/gallery/h/hfstivalfeature98.html 130 [13] http://www.rollingstone.com/sections/news/text/newsarticle.asp?afl=rsn&NewsID=4356&ArtistID=2458&origin=news 131 [14] https://hfs98.tripod.com/index2.html 132 [15] https://hfs98.tripod.com/#top
