Our oldest still 26 wants to be the center of attention, which is understandable. But don’t get me 27 wrong, it’s great having two kids! There’s so much to look forward to each day. 28 The newborn is changing and growing for each day, and our oldest keeps showing 29 us that she loves being the older sister, she wants to help out and be together 30 as a family. 31 32 May has been a weird month for me, I haven’t wanted to do much. I have 33 procrastinated almost everything I usually do: working, exercising, walking the 34 dog, work around the house, reading, writing, and so on. As I’m writing this it 35 feels like I’m out of the worst of it, because my energy has been much better 36 the last few days. 37 38 🧑💻 Development 39 40 I rediscovered [12]mise and actually read what it does. I’m 100% sold on its 41 idea. mise pins tool versions, manages environments, and gives me a task runner 42 per project, it has replaced the Makefile across my projects and made 43 maintaining the same environment across machines much easier. No more 44 memorizing CLI commands like Hugo’s! 45 46 I’ve also adopted [13]fnox (by the same developer) for secrets. It keeps the 47 values age-encrypted, so they can live committed in the repo. At work I 48 introduced mise alongside fnox as the “front-end” for the secrets we store in 49 1Password on our two biggest projects. 50 51 I’m noticing I have a deep appreciation for developer tooling. 52 53 🎬 Entertainment 54 55 From my [14]logs. 56 57 Movies 58 59 • Normal (2026) – Cool movie. Nothing more, nothing less. 60 • The Punisher: One Last Kill (2026) – Why did they make this? It was Frank 61 (Jon) going around making grunts and looking almost like crying the entire 62 “TV movie”. I like Jon, but WTF was this. 63 • Predator: Badlands (2025) – Rewatched with my SO. Still good! Hoping for a 64 great future of the Predator (and Alien) franchise! 65 • Obsession (2026) – Phenomenal acting, music, and characters! I don’t want 66 to spoil anything. Everyone needs to see this movie. It’s not perfect, but 67 very close. The ending felt somewhat rushed. 68 69 TV 70 71 • Daredevil: Born Again (S2) – Throughout this season I was really hoping for 72 more crossover characters. There were some, but I’m still missing some. 73 Overall the season was fun. It’s hard not to think of the mayor stuff to be 74 social commentary of what’s currently going on in the US. 75 • BEEF (S2) – Same shit, different beef. Blackmail and lies will always come 76 back and bite you in the ass. 77 • The Boys (S5) – The source material’s ending has a lot more umph, but I 78 understand why they chose a different approach. I liked this season, and 79 the send-off was nice. 80 • Half Man (S1) – Great show! It was a real rollercoaster of shit happening. 81 At first I thought it was going to be a really bad show, but Gadd (creator) 82 surprised me with Baby Reindeer, so I gave it a chance. 83 84 Also just started watching Vox Machina S4, I’ve missed Grog! 85 86 Games 87 88 • Subnautica 2 (initial early access) (2026) – I missed the terrors of the 89 depth! It’s pretty similar to the original, but it got some new tricks. 90 Looking forward to the next releases and more story! 91 92 I’m currently playing 007 First Light on PC (Linux FTW), it’s really cool! 93 Also, they just announced a new God of War, God of War Laufey, it looks 94 awesome! 95 96 Books 97 98 I’m currently listening to Platform Decay and The Martian. 99 100 🌐 Links 101 102 • [15]Ascetic Computing – Fantastic blogpost! Work out when it’s easier to skip. Do your taxes 115 instead of postponing again. Go outside when you’d rather stay in. 116 • [24]Protect Your Shed – I agree with the author.
