It was my first time driving 31 alone for 3 hours with our daughter, and it was my SO's first time being away 32 from our daughter for more than a workday. It was fine, we all survived! 33 34 We celebrated our daughter's first National Day on the 17th of May with family 35 and a trip to a school. I wonder how next year is going to be when she's in 36 kindergarten. 37 38 And to talk about something super interesting: The weather this past month has 39 been superb! We have gone on long walks every day (almost). Somedays was so 40 warm that we couldn't be outside for too long because of the heat ☀️ 41 42 💪 Health 43 44 No race this month, and I have still managed to run an average of 15 km per 45 week this month. It's been a blast (and warm)! 46 47 I have also got a lot of use of the baby-carrier we bought last month, it's 48 really fun to hear our daughter "talking" and laughing when we see animals, 49 cars, plants etc. Great purchase! 50 51 🧑💻 Development 52 53 Other than doing some [17]migrations of my Deno modules, I have been working 54 slow and steady on my logging tool. It's getting there, hopefully it will be 55 ready this summer. I'm not sure how "general" I should make it, if it's 56 interesting for anyone other than me. But we'll see, it might be easier to see 57 that once I write a standalone blogpost about it. 58 59 Like I mentioned in the intro, there is a new edition of [18]Kaizen out: [19] 60 Kaizen #2 61 62 🎬 Entertainment 63 64 This month we mananged to watch a bunch of movies, shows and I even managed to 65 play some video games. 66 67 Games 68 69 This month, after my co-worker still went on and on about how good Hades was, I 70 caved and got it on Steam. And I have been enjoying it very much on the Steam 71 Deck. Haven't beaten the last boss, yet, but it's fun! And I get nostaglic 72 about remembering all the Gods from Greek Mythology from my memory of the 73 animated Hercules movie. 74 75 I also posted my [20]Playdate review where I go in-depth on the whole thing. 76 77 Movies 78 79 • Late Night with the Devil (2023) – Really cool, and different horror movie. 80 It was more like a thriller to me, but enjoyed it! 81 • Dream Scenario (2023) – This was so weird and thought-provoking that it was 82 really funny and scary at the same time. Bonus, Norwegian director and 83 writer 84 • Secrets of the Neanderthals (2024) – Boring Netflix documentary. 85 • Turbo Kid (2015) – Gave it a watch just because of the soundtrack and I do 86 not regret it, recommended! 87 • Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes (2024) – I didn't miss Andy Serkis that 88 much, and it was fun to see where all the apes were 300 years after the 89 last movie. 90 • The Fall Guy (2024) – I had high hopes for this one after Bullet Train, it 91 was bland. The fight-scenes were cool, but there weren't enough of it to 92 make it a good movie. 93 • The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare (2024) – A cool war-movie about real 94 events, recommended! 95 96 TV shows 97 98 • Baby Reindeer S1 – Everyone was talking about it, and we also started to 99 talk about it. Eerie and amazing at the same time. 100 • X-Men '97 S1 – Wow. They made a heartfelt cartoon, I mean, revived cartoon 101 about mutants and a dab of time-travel. It was awesome! 102 • Hvite gutter S7 – Norwegian show about some rich/spolied white dudes that 103 only parties, it has its moments. 104 105 🌐 Links 106 107 • [21]sdushantha/tmpmail – This worked on my first try. I'm very impressed on 108 how simple this is and how it just works! 109 • [22]Don't Microservice, Do Module – I didn't need any convincing, but the 110 author goes into depth on why you should use modules instead of 111 microservices. 112 • [23]Must know key bindings for developers on Mac OSX – Shortcuts I didn't 113 know about, awesome! 114 • [24]tmux is worse is better – tmux is bad, but it's actually better for a 115 lot of stuff. 116 • [25]Developers aren't Nerds – Not every developer is as into it as you 117 might think. 118 • [26]Our Blogging Workflow – Cool concept with writing a post about your 119 current blogging workflow. 120 • [27]Thinking Big and Small – You have to start somewhere, you cannot change 121 the world overnight. 122 • [28]Get Yourself a /dev/lunch – Grab lunch with someone for a different 123 company, use it as a place to talk about stuff, rant even. 124 • [29]Behind the Scenes of Building the Three Word Stories App – The Three 125 Word Stories app was built quickly, in about 48 hours, as part of the 126 Viget's annual hackathon tradition. David Eisinger emailed me and let me 127 know that a blogpost where I mentioned PocketBase gave his team inspiration 128 to make this game – that's awesome! 129 • [30]Three Word Stories – Cool little game made with Svelte and PocketBase. 130 • [31]Ignite Rails: Matt Parker - README Driven Development – A way to 131 motivate people to write the README, with some awesome stats! 132 • [32]A brief history of web development. And why your framework doesn't 133 matter. – Quick overview of the history of the web and why you shouldn't 134 stress about choosing technology because someone tells you to. Chose what 135 works for you. 136 • [33]Use Your Potions and Scrolls – I can really relate to this. I always 137 hoard potions and scrolls, and other nicnaks to never use them. I will try 138 to not to "spare" them as much as I do, both in-game and IRL. 139 • [34]I'm a programmer and I'm stupid – Stupid is the new smart, you should 140 try it ;) 141 • [35]DuckDB as the New jq – DuckDB really knows JSON, who would've thought? 142 143 Tagged with 144 145 • [36]#recently 146 147 1168 words 148 149 [37]Reply via email 150 Last deploy: 2024-06-09 151 152 • [38]Stats 153 • [39]Privacy 154 • [40]Connect 155 • [41]Subscribe 156 157 158 References: 159 160 [1] https://timharek.no/blog/2024-may-recently#main 161 [2] https://timharek.no/ 162 [3] https://timharek.no/blog 163 [4] https://timharek.no/about 164 [5] https://timharek.no/more 165 [6] https://timharek.no/ 166 [7] https://timharek.no/blog 167 [8] https://timharek.no/blog/2024-may-recently 168 [9] https://timharek.no/ 169 [10] https://timharek.no/.well-known/avatar?size=250&quality=90 170 [11] mailto:[email protected] 171 [12] https://timharek.no/public-key.asc 172 [13] https://timharek.no/blog/all-my-deno-modules-are-now-available-on-jsr 173 [14] https://timharek.no/blog/playdate-review 174 [15] https://timharek.no/blog/2024-february-recently 175 [16] https://timharek.no/blog/kaizen-2 176 [17] https://timharek.no/blog/all-my-deno-modules-are-now-available-on-jsr 177 [18] https://timharek.no/tags/kaizen 178 [19] https://timharek.no/blog/kaizen-2 179 [20] https://timharek.no/blog/playdate-review 180 [21] https://github.com/sdushantha/tmpmail 181 [22] https://yekta.dev/posts/dont-microservice-do-module/ 182 [23] https://uptownhr.com/blog/must-know-key-bindings-for-developers-on-mac-osx/ 183 [24] https://hiandrewquinn.github.io/til-site/posts/tmux-is-worse-is-better/ 184 [25] https://0xff.nu/dev-and-nerd 185 [26] https://birming.com/posts/our-blogging-workflow 186 [27] https://blog.jim-nielsen.com/2024/thinking-big-and-small/ 187 [28] https://anderegg.ca/2024/05/17/get-yourself-a-devlunch 188 [29] https://www.viget.com/articles/behind-the-scenes-of-building-the-three-word-stories-app/ 189 [30] https://3wordstories.com/instructions 190 [31] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=23xzRCoDZf4 191 [32] https://gebna.gg/blog/brief-history-of-web-development 192 [33] https://jerry.wtf/posts/use-your-potions/ 193 [34] https://antonz.org/stupid/ 194 [35] https://www.pgrs.net/2024/03/21/duckdb-as-the-new-jq/ 195 [36] https://timharek.no/tags/recently 196 [37] mailto:[email protected]?subject=RE:%20May%202024 197 [38] https://timharek.no/stats 198 [39] https://timharek.no/privacy 199 [40] https://timharek.no/connect 200 [41] https://timharek.no/subscribe
